Who can register with Acton Soccer Club?
We run house league programs for children/youth players, for those who will be five or older during the year of the season. So, for example, in 2010, those born in 2005 or earlier can play.
New last year: Under-12 Boys Competitive with Peel-Halton Select Soccer League. Tryouts and costs TBD - and we are extending into Under-13 Boys Competitive (Rep) and Under-16 Girls Select. Plus we expect a U9 or U10 Select team and a U11 Boys select team depending on interest. Contact the Director of Competitive Soccer with questions.
Third year in 2010: Gerry-HatTricks Adult Co-Ed recreational soccer. Run on mini-soccer fields, 5v5 (goalie plus 4 outfielders) on Sunday mornings at about 10-11 am with no referees - this is intended to reproduce the feel of the indoor Co-Ed league on Sunday afternoons. We have chosen Sunday mornings to try and catch the weather before it gets hot. And the costs were low - it was a blast! Ladies league registers with Acton Soccer Club, the Acton men's team is run separately. Contact the President at president@actonsoccer.org . For registration information, see the REGISTRATION page.
Men's House League - Play 11-a-side on Sunday mornings: 10:30am kick-off at Acton Sports Park. This is RECREATIONAL SOCCER, with one referee (no linesmen), and is aimed at 30 year olds and older. There is a hard limit of 1982 as the latest birth year we will accept. No full teams may enter: we will keep small groups of friends together. We are aiming for 4 or 6 teams, and will provide soccer shirt and 15 games for $120, which includes referee fees and all other registration costs.
Do they play out of town games?
Under-5 to Under-10 programs run in Acton. Under-12 and up play in other towns. Last year, for example, Under-12 boys played about 70% in Acton, plus Rockwood, Milton Soccer Academy, Puslinch, Hillsburgh and Grand Valley. Under-18 boys played games in Bolton, Georgetown, Milton, Hillsburgh, and Caledon.
What about player books?New for 2009 and same this year - Recreational players do not need player books! Select, Competitive, and All-Star teams are the only ones needing books. return to top
Where are the soccer fields? Funny you should ask: we have maps! Follow this link to the Acton field locations. The pride of Acton are the two fields at Villa Park, also known as Acton Sports Park. Field #1 was the first lit field in Acton, and was open during the 2008 season. The second lit field was new for 2009. The fields belong to the Town of Halton Hills and Acton Villa rents them from the Town - but we are proud to point out that the Club contributed $150,000 of Charity Bingo earnings to this project.
How do you know which age group they will play in?
For the 2010 OUTDOOR SEASON, as an example, if the child is has their FIFTH BIRTHDAY sometime during 2010 (i.e. they were born in 2005) they are eligible for Under-5. Other birth years are as follows:
2005: Under 5 2004: Under 6 2002 - 03: Under-8, 2000 - 01: Under-10, 1998 - 99: Under-12, 1996 - 97:Under-14, 1994 - 95:Under-16, 1992 - 93: Under-18,
The easy way to work out the INDOOR AGE SYSTEM is that if you play in Under-5 in the summer, you play Under-6 the winter season that comes straight after.
Special Requests. Once again, there are no special requests for youth players to choose team mates or coaches this year. We will, however, put children with parents if the parent is coaching, and we will put siblings on the same team as each other.
Requests for players to be in a higher age group - based on ability - will be considered carefully, and are usually (almost always) granted.
*** DUE TO ENORMOUS HEADACHES IN OTHER YEARS, WE DO NOT HONOR SOCIAL OR TRANSPORTATION REQUESTS. MOST OTHER LOCAL SOCCER CLUBS HAVE BEEN WORKING THIS WAY FOR YEARS. ***
Note that for Under-10 and younger, all players have the same schedule whatever team they are on. Older age groups should be able to car pool, parents can figure this out at practices and games.
Which Age Groups are Mixed? Under-8 and younger play with mixed teams. Since 2008, Under-10 is played as Boys and Girls separate leagues. Older ages are segregated into boys and girls.
What nights are practices and games? Same as last year:
Under-5: Wednesdays Under-6: Thursdays Under-8: Practice Wednesday, game Thursday Under-10: Mondays and Tuesdays. Boys games Mondays, girls Tuesdays. Boys practices Tuesday, girls practices Monday. Under-12 Boys: Tuesdays (home games - a few away games may be other nights) Under-12 Girls: Mondays (home games - a few away games may be other nights) Under-14 Boys: Thursdays (home games - a few away games may be other nights) Under-14 Girls: Wednesdays (home games - a few away games may be other nights) Under-16 Boys: Mondays Under-16 Girls: Tuesdays Under-18 Boys: Wednesdays Under-18 Girls: Thursdays
Practices in age groups U12 and older are set by the coach for the team.
There will be a "SCHEDULES" section for individual teams in the "Outdoor Soccer" menu once the schedules are finalised.

Is there a Rep or Select program?
We have a U11B and a U13B Rep (Competitive) team, and a U16G Select team. Contact the Director of Competitive Soccer with questions. Or click on the Competitive Soccer tab in the left menu bar.
Do the players keep their uniforms, like last year? Yes, in YOUTH, outdoor they do: fees include shirt, shorts and socks. Players must provide shin guards and shoes.
In Men's House League, and Gerry HatTricks, we provide a shirt: player provides everything else.
Men's Inter-County and Ladies Recreational Soccer League teams are run separately by the teams.
For ADULT indoor, the club will provide a shirt that the player can keep, but the player has to provide the rest of the equipment.

How do I alert my team that my child has severe allergies Download our sample letter, fill in details, print out and give copies to your team parents, coach, convenor and the Registrar. If you click on the link it will open, or right click and "save target as", this all depends on your browser.

What's the refund policy?
If we have already paid the $15 PHSA/OSA registration fee, which is non-refundable, that will be deducted from any refund calculated as below. Basically, if you cancel close to the start of the season, we will not be able to get this money back from the governing bodies.
* Prior to Kick-off Fun Day, 95% of fee paid will be refunded. For example, you pay $100 to register but it is just before Fun-Day when you cancel, your refund will be 95% of ($100-$15) which is $80.75. If it is before the PHSA/OSA fees are levied, you will get $95 back.
* After Kick-off Fun Day until June 30th, 50% of fee paid will be refunded.
No refunds after June 30.
